07 GTI sound quality help? Thank you.?

I just bought a 2007 2dr automatic GTI, Pkg 1 no leather, with sunroof.
I listen to a lot of AM I need good AM reception.
When I listen to music I listen to all types except RAP, HOUSE, AND
INDUSTRIAL, I do listen to: Bluegrass, Jazz, rock, bagpipes,
pipe organ, motown, country, new age, punk, classical…
I am trying to decide what amps and equipment to go with. I think there are some
digital like Alpine. Also a/b, d
Should I go aftermarket head unit or stay stock and do I loose or
gain features on steering wheel or otherwise. I I want to be able to read the
station time and important stuff in the daytime. I had a
Premier from a few years ago and it was usless in the day.
I have Boston Accoustic Pro 60s I could use(1 set). I also have a
Precision Power Art series A404.2, Mb Quart 300watt sub amp, JL audio
300/2 slash 1.
I am told the GTI I is hard to work on.
I am also told diff. things about what is good etc. is there any place I can find objective reviews, etc.?

I second the vwvortex recommendation. I own a MKV Rabbit and a MKV Jetta and always go there for assistance.

With regards to the factory head unit and speakers, I recommend that you keep them. They are already extremely nice and if you want your steering wheel controls to work with an aftermarket unit then you will have to work pretty hard to accomplish it.

If you simply want louder sound, keep the factory head unit and add some amps w/ speaker-level inputs. My Rabbit (almost identical to the GTI) has the stock sound system except for a 10″ sub that I added, and it gets super loud in there! Once you get a sub and can dial back the bass level going to the other speakers, they sound much clearer and can go to painfully loud levels.

This two-CD, 25-song set, recorded in Louisville on two nights in the spring of 2002, finds bluegrass's most celebrated crossover band at the top of its game. Krauss's warm, feathery vocals, capable of conveying complex emotions in a single note, appear more full-bodied than in studio recordings, yet lose none of their sensual appeal or dramatic tension. She's perfect, for example, as the melancho...
